What: VCSA Essay Contest
Prize: Three (3) winners will receive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recognition plaques and FREE admission to Len Duong Camp 2011
Deadline: April 7th, 2011 11:59 pm CST

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be currently active in a local community group
  • Must plan to attend Len Duong Camp 2011 to accept the award

Purpose:

To encourage young community activists from across the North America to share their ideas in volunteerism and to encourage them to attend Len Duong Camp, VCSA will award the top three (3) best written essay writers free admission to camp.

Application Requirements:

  1. Complete and submit a scholarship application (click HERE to download form)
  2. Write a thoughtful, clear, and concise essay in English or Vietnamese that best answers the following questions:
    • Why do you want to be involved with volunteer activities and/or community services?
    • What inspired you to be involved in the community and what is your aspiration?
    • Why do you want to attend Len Duong Camp?
    • If you have previously attended the camp, are there any specific lessons learned or experiences from the camp that you would like to share?

Application Submission:

Submit the completed application form and essay entry as individual attachments in one (1) email to LDEssayContest@vcsa.org with subject heading: “Your Last Name – 2011 VCSA Essay Contest.” Hard copies will not be accepted.

All essay winners will be announced and recognized at Len Duong Camp. Winning entries may also be published in the Len Duong Camp program book.

*NOTE: All submitted material must be the original work of the applicant. Entries must not be plagiarized, published work, or used in a previous submission for this, or any other contest. Any suspicious entries will be automatically disqualified.
