Ms. Nguyen Phuc Anh Lan

vcsaAnhlan Nguyen believes the future is in the hands of the young. Her accomplishments include the establishment of the Vietnamese Youth Center of Toronto, Canada; the National Youth Leadership Development Camp “Len Duong” for young community activists from across USA and Canada; and the hosting of numerous community programs aimed at helping and developing Vietnamese-American youths. She was also the organizer of the “Thank You, America” luncheon honoring local charities that help Vietnamese refugees relocate and become acclimated in their new homeland. Nguyen’s passion has inspired her to lead numerous humanitarian efforts for the hurricane and flood victims in Central America and in Vietnam. Nguyen has served as president of VCSA for two consecutive terms 1999 – 2001 and 2002 - 2004. She was selected as one of the Five Outstanding Young Houstonians by Houston JAYCEE (Junior Chamber of Commerce) in 2000 and was the Honoree of the Asian-American Heritage Month of 2001 by Houston METRO Transit Authority. In 2004, she was honored by Youth Leadership Council as the recipient of the Outstanding Community Leader Award. In 2006, she received the “Local Hero” award by Bank of America for her humanitarian work and her community service in the city of Houston, Texas, especially in assisting Katrina evacuees in 2005. Anhlan currently works at University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center as a Senior IT Business Process Consultant. She also serves on the Advisory Board, Compliance Assistance Committee, National Advisory Council for Environment Protection Policy and Technology; member of Board of Directors of The Southeast Asian Resource Action Center (SEARAC), the only national non-profit organization advocating for the Southeast Asian Americans; and past member of Board of Directors of National Alliance of Vietnamese American Social Agencies (NAVASA).

Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1989 and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, University of Toronto, Canada, in 1993. She relocated to Houston, Texas in 1994 and became active with VCSA since then. She is currently enrolled in the Ph. D. program in Business Administration from Northcentral University, Phoenix, Arizona.

Her vision for VCSA is to become one of the most effective and prestigious Vietnamese American organizations across United States and North America. VCSA will play a key role in contributing to build a strong Vietnamese overseas community and to help rebuild Vietnam once democracy is established in Vietnam. She also wishes to help VCSA to grow into a sustainable non-profit organization whose main mission is to serve the community in the areas of leadership, culture, education and civic involvement.
